The Tiny House Workshop aims to promote speculative theoretical thinking with grounded future scenarios. The premise of the project is that AI is largely under-theorized, lacking what in literary studies is called the element of “reader response.” The use depends on the user, whether to extend and challenge the imagination or to silently confirm ideological predispositions.
Before the Show
The sponsor of the workshop, iPSA (Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies of Architecture) will hold zoom seminars as prequels to the workshop session in Vienna. Although iPSA is grounded in the works of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan, a broad theoretics audience will be invited to weigh in on the futures of the AI/Tiny-House alliance.
The Show Itself
The 90-minute session will have three stages:
- 30-6.66 minutes: petcha-kucha style introductions from live and zoom participants, addressing the theme of the Tiny House as a resource for re-forming theory around the theme of utopian fantasy.
- 30-40 minutes: discussion, with two stages: (a) formalizing plans for new theory, (b) consequences and possibilities. Groups develop alternatives, present proposals.
- Summations & discussions: “What’s next?”
